Placed innn Weddings
I think it’s only suitable that our most epic year yet be summarized in a most epic of all blog posts. If you scroll through this post you might soon realize that it was hard for us to pick our faves from this year, after all Cole & I took over 100,000 images in 2013! It was also hard to choose our favourites because we worked with some amazing couples and we honestly still feel privileged to have been chosen to be a part of their day. We photographed couples that flew in from all over the world: Indonesia, London, Korea, USA and the far north of Canada. The very young (19!) and also the second chances. We saw love unfold in first looks & altar gasps, Chinese tea ceremonies, Korean commemorations, and Jewish wedding traditions. There were Kilts, Mounties in Royal Red Serge, Converse shoes, Mom’s dresses handed down and of course – a plethora of suspenders! There were more than a few tears shed this summer (Cole and I cried at 95% of the weddings alone!) We could go on and on about the DIY or beautiful locations (Whistler, backyard beauties, barns, Gabriola Island, Fraser Valley treasures, Banff…) but the thing that still takes our breath away are the stolen moments. Father’s seeing their daughters for the first time. Newly wedded couples lingering on the lawn. Not even the rainiest downpour of the year dampening the brides smile as she marries her best friend. The words, “Nothing matters except that I am here with you,” when the couples’ entire venue and plans burnt to the ground two days prior from a random strike of lightning (truer words never spoken).
Representing love is a tall order, but as you can see from these pics, it’s all around – all you have to do is look.CommentsCollapse
